Hey, folks! Normally I try to help you, but now I wonder if you could help me!

If you buy Fabrics-store.com’s 57" wide 5.3 oz linen, can you tell me which color you bought and how much it shrinks in width after pre-shrinking via hot washing and drying? Length too would be ideal, but I know that measuring long pieces is much more of a pain.

I’ve gone through a dozen bolts of the stuff, but I’m working on a pattern puzzle while I’m traveling, and width after pre-shrinking is the key bit of information I forgot to write down.

I think I generally lose an inch on a hot wash and dry and end up with 56″ wide fabric, but I wish I could get someone to confirm this.

Thank you, lovely sewists!

So I went to Animenext this weekend to work as staff, for the 6th year running. I was an orange shirt, which means we take care of panels and tech issues. Basically we set up everything and anything that has to do with video or audio.

Me being a giant YoI fan, I made sure I was running tech for both panels. First one was a few small disasters, and involved me sprinting to the tech HQ and back so I didn’t miss anything. However that was a Q and A and was pretty bad. Turns out, no one had any good questions, so we just had a bunch of questions about aspects of the show these people had nothing to do with. Then they showed some not yet released footage from the new DVD. that part was awesome.

Second one was an actual panel. They all took turns going over what they worked on, and we saw exclusive hand drawn stuff on our overhead display. In addition, the skating animator was there. He hadn’t brought anything with him, but he casually whipped out a pad on which he had drawn a skate sequence at 3am the night before. Like a 50 page flip book.

They made no mention of a second season, but at the very end, right before they left, they did casually mention that there was going to be a movie. Though I guess this want news to anyone who was actually still paying attention, it definitely perked me up.

  • Vetinari: You have two cows. You convince them they will better off with you alive and in control than not.
  • Sam Vimes: You have two cows. They are probably guilty of something. Loitering, probably.
  • Young Sam: Where are your cows? Those goes "baah." Those are sheep. They are not your cows.
  • Moist von Lipwig: You steal two cows. You convince everyone they are made of gold and sell them for a fortune. You get arrested and become Minister of Agriculture.
  • Tiffany Aching: You have two cows. An elf tries to steal them and you hit it with a frying pan.
  • Nac Mac Feegle: Someone has two cows. You steal them, then fight them, then fight yourself. You win.
  • Rincewind: You run away from cows.
  • Unseen University: You have two cows. One is caught up in a magical accident and is now a chair. The other has become a professor.
  • Sybil Ramkin: You have many cows. They aren't dragons, so you don't care. You have 37 dragons.
  • Nanny Ogg: You have a cow and a bull. You enjoy explaining how they will make more cows.
  • Granny Weatherwax: You wish Gytha would stop explaining how you get cows.
  • King Verence: You try to create an economic plan for your country based on bovine products; your people are too busy listening to Nanny Ogg.

“you get that they’re gay right?”
